Solvang Finest Century

Solvang was my second Century Ride, a friend from the Tri Team, joined me for the ride. There was no fixed start time for the ride so we had breakfast and started off around 7:15am. The first thing that struck us was the number of turns on the course, for the first 30 there seemed to be a turn every mile or so. It would of been really easy to miss a few of the turns at the beginning we had to track the course carefully to not do so.

The sky was overcast and rain appeared a certainty, sure enough with the first couple of hours we had a small down pour, however it did not cause much of a problem. Despite the weather the location for the ride was great, it started with some rolling hills through the valley. Mile 25 to 65 had a good downward trend, however this was all made up for on the first big climb which lasted 5 miles. A nice decent followed, before the final climb which lasted 10 miles, the road was rough a this point and the final decent was decidedly dicey. The last 10 miles were fairly fast with a net downhill :-)

A great Century Ride and thanks to my friend for joining me on this ride.
